Visit Iceland will send a knitter to your pointless online meeting
Visit Iceland is offering to send a real Icelandic knitter to your online meetings, then deliver a one-word summary made from wool.
Created by M+C Saatchi North America and Peel, ‘AI Knittakers’ stands for Authentic Icelandic Knittakers.
The free, bookable service launches today, giving office workers a human alternative to the AI notetaker and an excuse to step away from their screens.
Knittakers join calls from farmhouse kitchens, harbour towns, waterfalls and geothermal pools across Iceland. They listen, read the room and knit the word they think best captures the conversation.
Afterwards, users receive a photograph of the finished work, along with their knitter’s name, story and location.
Meeting organisers in the US and Europe can also request the original by post, subject to availability.

Research commissioned by Visit Iceland among 4,000 office workers found that 63% felt many meetings could have been an email.

Stevie Archer, chief creative officer at M+C Saatchi North America, said: “With AI Knittakers, we’re giving people what they need most: Time.”
Visit Iceland spokesperson Sigríður Dögg Guðmundsdóttir added: “It’s easy to assume that every modern problem needs a technological answer.”
Following its horse-powered out-of-office replies, the tourism body has found another way to turn workplace frustration into a reason to visit. This time, the scenery joins the meeting.
