Heineken launches a streaming service that gets you off the sofa

Heineken has teamed up with Amazon to launch Pubscription, a pub discovery service that borrows the look and logic of streaming platforms to help people choose their next night out.

Developed with Amazon Ads’ Brand Innovation Lab, the UK pilot lets users browse pubs by “genre” on Fire TV, swapping films and box sets for relaxed locals.

The familiar ritual of scrolling for something to watch becomes a search for somewhere to meet.

There’s a weekly free beer to help turn browsing into a booking-free evening out.

Membership is free for over-18s, with four vouchers issued every four weeks, redeemable one per week at participating pubs in England.

Members can choose Heineken or Heineken 0.0, claiming their drink through their smartphone.

Nabil Nasser, global head of Heineken, said: “Technology can give us endless ways to be entertained, but nothing replaces the simple pleasure of getting together over a Heineken.”

Following its Heinz six-pack collaboration and pub-finding winter billboards, Heineken is giving people another reason to meet in person. The neat twist here: using the television itself to suggest leaving the house.
