Street Fighter picks a fight with London’s street signs

Street Fighter has found a handy shortcut to promoting its new film: London already has half the title on its street signs.

Images shared by Paramount on its Instagram feed show signs for Oxford Street, Regent Street, Baker Street and King Street with “Fighter” added beneath “Street” in the franchise’s distinctive orange lettering.

The familiar black-and-white signs do half the work, with a single addition turning everyday directions into film promotion.

It is unclear whether the team installed specially made signs, stencilled existing ones or digitally edited the photographs.

Either which way, the idea makes neat use of a title that fits its surroundings.

Posted with the caption “#StreetFighterMovie left a mark in London”, the images promote the film’s cinema release on 16 October.
