Canva lets you erase your ex, then undo it when they text
Erasing your ex is easy. Keeping them out of the picture is another matter.
Canva’s new ad follows a woman deleting former boyfriends from her photos, until an “I miss you” text prompts her to hit Undo.
‘Erase Your Ex’ leads a new North American brand campaign from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, built around the line ‘What Will You Canva Today?’
The question replaces ‘What will you design today?’, as Canva looks to show how much more people can do on the platform.
Two further films follow a coffee shop team creating a new drink and its promotional poster, and a teenager repeatedly revising his promposal sign as potential dates get snapped up.
The first TV spot airs during NBC Sunday Night Football on 1 November, supported by social and outdoor portraits of 11 Canva users mid-creation, tongues out in concentration.
“So many people know and love Canva, but they may not know everything that’s possible on the platform today,” said Dana Marineau, Canva’s North America chief marketing officer.
The work follows Canva’s transparent logo billboard, continuing its use of humour to demonstrate product features.
“Every spot and every portrait shows someone turning an idea into something that’s unmistakably theirs,” said GS&P chief creative officer Margaret Johnson.
