Corona turns sunset shadows into a giant beer bottle ‘posters’

By on Monday, July 20, 2026

Corona has turned sunset itself into a series of ‘living posters’, using the long shadows cast across Cape Town to form the silhouette of a beer bottle for a few fleeting minutes each evening.

Titled ‘Sun Shadows’, the work was created by Boundless, agency of record for Corona in South Africa, and captures the exact moment the sun meets the horizon, when winter shadows stretch far enough across the street to line up into a bottle shape.

A simple white chalk outline of the label, drawn onto the pavement in advance, completes the picture once the light lines up.

The team say no CGI or digital manipulation was used.

Production instead relied on careful planning and precise timing to predict where the shadows would fall, a method Corona has used before in a previous sun-powered billboard and, further back, in a lime wedge timed to the moon.

Both rely on the same idea: that nature, given the right conditions, can do the creative work itself.

The campaign reinforces Corona’s long-running belief that life is best lived outside.
