Corona introduces laser-etched limes to perfect bottle ritual
Corona has launched ‘Lime Guides’, a global campaign developed by Grey London that uses laser-etched limes to help drinkers slice the perfect wedge for the brand’s signature bottle ritual.
Timed to launch on International Lime Day (yes this exists), the idea addresses a familiar frustration for Corona fans: trying to push a badly cut lime wedge into the narrow neck of a bottle.
The solution is simple. Using food-safe laser technology, Corona lightly etches cutting guides onto real limes, creating subtle markings on the skin that show exactly where to slice for a perfect fit.
More than 25,000 of the specially marked limes will be distributed across more than 30 retailers on three continents. Consumers can also order them through local delivery apps in selected markets. The limes come in a range of sizes designed to work with different Corona formats, from cans to larger bottles.
Clarissa Pantoja, global VP of Corona, said the ritual has always been central to the brand experience. “From our natural ingredients to the fresh lime that finishes every bottle, the ritual is part of the timeless brand experience.”
The campaign will roll out globally with digital films and key visuals across trade, social and digital channels, celebrating a small but satisfying improvement to one of beer’s most recognisable rituals.
