Great Ormand Street Hospital (GOSH) has partnered with celebrity photographer Rankin to offer seriously ill children a sense of normality by capturing school day portraits.
The campaign aims to ensure children facing critical illnesses don’t miss out on those precious “milestone moments” that define childhood. Rankin set up a professional photo shoot complete with white screens, bright lights, and a powder blue backdrop, transforming hospital corridors into a photography studio.
“Children who are seriously ill shouldn’t miss out on those milestone moments especially having a photograph taken because you want to remember this stuff even if you don’t like it and it’s difficult. You want to have the memory,” Rankin explained.
The GOSH Charity’s goal? To provide support and create moments of normality for children facing extraordinary challenges. Rankin’s lens turns a simple school photo into a powerful statement of hope, resilience, and the universal desire to remember life’s special moments and celebrate childhood.
