Canadian coffee shops rename Americanos in protest of Trump tariffs

A growing number of Canadian coffee shops are renaming the Americano to the ‘Canadiano’ in response to President Donald Trump’s tariffs on the country.
British Columbia-based Kicking Horse Coffee sparked the movement encouraging cafes to adopt the patriotic rebranding.

“We’re officially making it a thing and asking coffee shops across the country to make the switch,” the company stated, according to the Washington Post. Kicking Horse has reportedly used the term “Canadiano” for over 16 years.

The coffee protest is part of a broader wave of resistance in Canada against U.S. tariffs.
