The team behind Detective Pikachu have this week successfully trolled the internet with a fake leak of the new live-action movie.

On Tuesday night the upcoming movie Pokémon film was seemingly leaked in its entirety by a mysterious YouTube account. The 1 hour 43 minute video was then shared on Twitter by a new account simply called “Inspector Pikachu”.

Ryan Reynolds, the voice of Pikachu himself, tweeted the link under the guise of alerting Warner Bros.

However upon watching, viewers saw that the ‘leaked’ video included 5 or so minutes of what looked like the actual opening sequence of ‘Detective Pikachu’ (complete with a screener watermark which says ‘R. Reynolds.’) followed by 102 minutes of Pikachu performing aerobics on a dance floor.

The ‘full movie’ saw over 4 million views in its first 14 hours on YouTube.
