The iconic helmet-wearing EDM DJ known as Marshmello hosted a unique live concert over the weekend; taking place in a virtual arena in the hit online, multiplayer video game Fortnite.

Millions of fans logged on across the world to witness the set with captured footage showing player’s avatars dancing together for the one of a kind 10 minute gig.

The vastly popular free-to-play title usually sees up to 100 players’ battle it out in the ultimate test of survival on a shrinking dystopian island. For the concert however, all weapons were disabled allowing revellers to enjoy the music without fear of needing to re-spawn.

Marshmello, whose real name is Christopher Comstock, said: “We made history today! The first ever live virtual concert inside of Fortnite with millions of people in attendance. So insane, thank you Epic Games and everyone who made this possible!”

He added: “What makes me happiest about today is that so many people got to experience their first concert ever. All the videos I keep seeing of people laughing and smiling throughout the set are amazing. Man I’m still so pumped.”
