Classic FM creates a soundtrack to calm pets on Bonfire Night
Classic FM has commissioned an original piano piece to help soothe pets during fireworks season, pressing it onto limited-edition zoetrope vinyl featuring snoozing cats and dogs.
As the record spins, the animals appear to sleep peacefully while fireworks burst in the distance.
It’s a creative visual expression of the idea behind Pet Classics, the station’s annual programme for anxious animals and their owners.
Composer and Classic FM Calm Ambassador Noah Inada-Kim wrote and recorded When The Night Goes Quiet for the occasion.
The soft, flowing piano piece draws on research suggesting animals respond best to slow tempos, low pitches and little or no percussion.

Now in its ninth year, Pet Classics is expanding to three evenings for the first time. Dan Walker, Aled Jones and Dawn O’Porter will each host a show, running from 5pm to 10pm on 5, 6 and 7 November respectively.
The playlists also include Saint-Saëns’ The Swan and Elgar’s Mina, named after his Cairn Terrier.
Joseph Zubier, Classic FM’s managing editor, said: “For many pets and their owners, the programme is an essential tool, offering a calming soundtrack and a relaxing sanctuary during the fireworks season.”
