Will Ferrell announces Anchorman sequel as Ron Bergundy
By Rich Leigh on Thursday, March 29, 2012
It has been nearly 8 years since the release of the world's most quotable film, Anchorman, and last night, the movie's protagonist Ron Bergundy himself took to Conan O'Brien's chat show to announce a sequel, insult O'Brien and – of course – play the flute.
An in-character Will Ferrell told the audience: ‘I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey, and the UK, including England, that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman'.
As movie PR announcements go, this is one that didn't need a huge and expensive stunt but has instantly become huge news.
60% of the time, movie launches in character work everytime.
