Woolmark puts a see-through billboard in a sheep field

Woolmark has installed a transparent billboard on a working Australian sheep farm, turning the flock behind it into the stars of its new global campaign by Wieden+Kennedy Sydney.

“The creators of the world’s smartest fibre aren’t scientists. But they do wear white coats,” reads the sign.

It’s an introduction to ‘Return to Real’, a platform positioning wool as the original wearable tech. Against a backdrop of artificial intelligence and engineered materials, Woolmark is making the case for nature’s own performance credentials.

The campaign extends into creator partnerships and three films exploring comfort, adaptability and durability.

Woolmark’s head of demand creation Laura Armstrong says: “We’re seeing increasingly that people are placing new value on things with texture, character, provenance and truth.”

Wieden+Kennedy Sydney managing director Matt Owen adds: “before manufacturers engineered materials to perform, nature had already perfected it in wool.”

Following Woolmark’s fast fashion zombie campaign, the new work shifts attention towards what wool offers wearers. It will roll out across key European markets through online video, YouTube, Meta and outdoor advertising.
