Burger King serves up a Whopper finish at the London Marathon

By on Tuesday, April 21, 2026

Burger King UK has launched a campaign timed to the country’s biggest marathons, positioning the Whopper as the ultimate post-race reward.

Created by BBH, ‘Whopper of a Finish’ is the second instalment in the brand’s Foodfillment platform, following Bundles of Joy, which centred on new mothers choosing Burger King for their first meal after giving birth.

This time, the work taps into the UK’s running boom and the growing habit of marathon finishers sharing their celebratory meals on social media.

The campaign features real runners from marathons across the UK, photographed by London documentary photographer Sophie Green.

The images show runners eating a Whopper after their race, medals still on and foil blankets wrapped around their shoulders.

Each poster carries the line “Finished” alongside a time stamp showing how long it took to eat the burger, echoing official marathon results.

Burger King UK is rolling the work out across hundreds of OOH sites, as well as social and print, for one week.

On Sunday 26 April, finishers with a medal can claim a free Whopper at the Strand or Leicester Square restaurants, while selected central London sites will offer buy-one-get-one-free.

Burger King will also deploy pacemakers to lead runners to “Mile 27” at Leicester Square.
