KFC gives ‘Chicken Wine’ the pairing it was waiting for
KFC and French wine brand La Vieille Ferme are opening Coq au Vin, a limited-edition Shoreditch wine bar pairing fried chicken with wine over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
La Vieille Ferme became widely known as “Chicken Wine” thanks to the bird on its label, eventually turning itself into Chicken Wine for a limited-edition release in 2024.

Now KFC has given the nickname its most literal possible partner.
Running at Kachette Annex from 28 to 31 August, the experiential marketing pop-up pairs Popcorn Chicken with sparkling rosé, Hot Wings with La Vieille Ferme Rouge, and Original Recipe Tenders with rosé or blanc.

The “Chicken Wine” label will also return exclusively for the event.

Tickets cost £15 for a 90-minute session, with limited walk-in spaces also available. The activation was developed by KFC and La Vieille Ferme, with Here Be Dragons among the teams credited by KFC on the launch.
“We’re iconic fried chicken. They’re the iconic Chicken Wine. Coq au Vin is one of those partnerships that just makes sense,” said Phoebe Syms, Fame & Partnerships Lead at KFC UK & Ireland.
It continues KFC’s recent habit of turning food into something people can wear, visit or talk about beyond the restaurant. Famous Campaigns most recently covered the brand’s pickle-themed nail bar stunt in France.
