Heinz gives Times Square’s giant hot dog the ketchup it was missing

By on Sunday, August 9, 2026

The world’s largest hot dog sculpture, returned to Times Square this month, mustard-drizzled and unmistakably missing ketchup.

Heinz, the US ketchup brand, wasn’t going to let that stand.

Working with agency Rethink and the sculpture’s original artists, Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw, Heinz installed a playful ad positioned just above the 65-foot hot dog, angled to look as though ketchup is being poured directly onto it.

The stunt follows the brand’s run of condiment-first mischief, from its reinvented the fry box to its recent KegChup launch.

“So when the world’s biggest hot dog returned to Times Square without HEINZ Ketchup, we knew we had to step in,” said Jamie Mack, associate director, brand communications, HEINZ. “Because when it comes to hot dogs, it has to be HEINZ.”
