GAME will give you Fifa 18 for free if your name is Alex Hunter

So apparently the release of the new Fifa game, Fifa 18, is a big deal because it’s the best one yet, and I would hope so for £59.99 a pop. I’m not sure how you can improve simulated football but hey-ho they’ve done it and there’s been a lot of buzz.

So to capitalise on this buzz, game retailer, GAME, will be giving away Fifa 18 for free to anyone who is named Alex Hunter – the main character in Fifa 18’s story, ‘The Journey’.

All you have to do to be sent a free copy is send your address, a scan or photo of your passport/driving license or birth certificate to [email protected], Alexander, Alexandra and other ‘reasonable variants’ of the name (Alexi maybe?) are being accepted so don’t worry if you’re not called plain ‘Alex’.

This is a good example of how brands can gain some coverage/engagement/awareness by hopping on the news agenda, it works well for GAME because they’re relevant to the news, I doubt it would have done quite so well if say, River Island, tried to do this PR campaign.

The stunt got national coverage in the Metro, Express and The Sun to name a few, as well as some lifestyle titles like Ladbible and Shortlist.
