To promote the release of the fifth season of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray and DVD this week, a 6m x 4m embroidery has been unveiled at Central Saint Martins’ Crossing Gallery in London’s King’s Cross, for one weekend only.
According to the press release, the artwork depicts “one of the most intense battle scenes in TV history” – the massacre of Hardhome.
The large-scale art was created in partnership with the Embroiderer’s Guild, the Royal School of Needlework, Fine Cell Work long-term prisoners and Hand & Lock Embroidery design room and took more than 50 people within the UK’s textile community more than 30,000 hours to complete.
The ‘Hardhome’ embroidery will be on display in Central Saint Martins’ the Crossing Gallery from 10am Friday 18th March – midnight on Saturday 19th March.
