IBM creates the world’s smallest stop-frame animation… using atoms

So, the challenge: how do you demonstrate what your company does on the atomic level every single day, without getting too tied up in the boring detail and making ordinary people’s heads hurt by talking about nano-this and micro-that?

If you’re IBM, the answer is that you create the world’s first stop-frame animation using single atoms to create your characters. Let me repeat that in case it wasn’t clear. IBM has created a video by manipulating SINGLE ATOMS… as in… ATOMS.

Aside from being an incredible feat of engineering and science, it’s also a phenomenally visual  PR stunt to demonstrate the company’s ability.
