Apple lights up Battersea with iPad-designed Christmas trees

Apple is lighting up London’s Battersea Power Station this festive season with 24 public-designed Christmas trees – each created on iPad as part of the brand’s first public creativity competition, Your Tree on Battersea.
Hosted by comedian Munya Chawawa, the competition invited anyone to design a digital Christmas tree using iPad.
The winning entries are now projected daily onto Battersea’s iconic towers, joined by creations from high-profile names including Kylie Minogue, Stephen Fry, David Shrigley and Chawawa himself.
“This is a full-circle moment for me,” said Chawawa. “As a kid, I filled iPads in the Apple Store with selfies—now I’m hosting their Christmas competition. I love that we’re assembling the nation to create festive trees on iPad.”

Among the winners is Canterbury-based Varsha Simha, who drew on the warmth of Christmas markets for her design. “I haven’t celebrated Christmas as part of my culture before, but this was a way to join in,” she said.

The projection runs from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily until Christmas Eve—adding a vibrant digital twist to Apple’s festive legacy, and further anchoring its creative presence at its Battersea HQ.
