KFC Canada takes on AI in fried chicken showdown

KFC Canada hope to prove that no algorithm can out-fry the Colonel.
The brand enlisted AI to analyse top-rated fried chicken recipes online and generate a competitor to its iconic original recipe.
Confident in its supremacy, KFC then staged a blind taste test to see which chicken would reign supreme.
Spoiler KFC won.
To capture the moment, KFC teamed up with agency Courage Inc. to create a 90-second video documenting real-time reactions. The campaign expands across digital out-of-home (DOOH), online video (OLV), and social media.
Taking things a step further, KFC is inviting the public to put the AI recipe to the test in a live taste challenge on March 19 at a Toronto KFC location.
Dhaval Bhatt, Co-CCO and Founder of Courage Inc said; “What I love about his idea is that it isn’t just using AI for the sake of making something with AI. It’s using it to make a bigger point that not only will appeal to a lot of people, but also serves the business objectives of driving KFC’s taste and quality scores in a super relevant and engaging way.”
Jordan Sequeira, Senior Marketing Manager, Brand & Communications, KFC Canada said; “We know that credibility isn’t claimed, it’s earned. This creative enabled us to prioritise meaningful, granular engagement with our fans, making them a core part of our brand and story – from the recipes already online to testing the best that AI had to offer, they were an integral part of the idea.”
