Paddy Power hijack’s Welsh village sign to troll Chelsea FC

Residents of the North Wales village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch awoke to an unusual surprise this morning, when they discovered famous sign erected to greet visitors and tourists had been tampered with by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power.

Poking fun at the team’s performance this Premier League season, Paddy Power had ‘twinned’ the village’s famous 11 letter name, which is the longest in the UK, with that of Chelsea FC.

The team have, so far this season, racked up a total of 16 losses – apparently the only place with ‘more Ls’.

The sign outside the Welsh community now reads: ‘Welcome to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, twinned with Chelsea FC, the only place with more Ls’.

With the betting firm’s odds of a further loss looming this Sunday against Newcastle, who are 7/5 to win, locals have been left in stitches by Paddy Power’s symbolic rallying call.

Meanwhile on Twitter – Specsavers jumped in with an custom eye test.
