Daisy May Cooper, star of BBC Three’s comedy This Country, caused a stir at the BAFTA TV Awards last night with a dress made entirely from rubbish in a bid to highlight food wastage.
The dress, fashioned from bag polythene bags, included a dustbin lid hat complete with perching pigeon and a train made completely from discarded waste.
Who are you wearing this evening? “A sixteen litre bin bag…” ?

The actor revealed that her unusual look was created by her mother and that the money she would have spent on a ‘normal dress’ had been donated to her local food-bank.
Speaking to ITV on the red carpet she said: ‘I wanted people to say, ‘Oh what are you wearing? Gucci?’ No, just bin bags.’
