Uber delivering ‘on-demand’ Christmas trees across UK this weekend

Do you still need to buy a Christmas tree? Can’t be bothered to get up and actually go to get one? Here’s a stunt for you.
In what is a bit of a strange move for a taxi booking app – but nonetheless, a nice festive PR effort – Uber has partnered with Pines and Needles to deliver Christmas trees – on-demand – across the UK.
For £10 (which the service will take from the card paired with your Uber account), a driver will bring a 5ft Nordmann Fir to your doorstep.
There are a limited number of trees in participating cities, namely London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, Sheffield, Bristol, Windsor, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Leicester, Merseyside, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Here’s how it works (taken from this Uber blog):
- Open the Uber app this Saturday (12th December) between 1pm-5pm
- Set your location and slide to TREES
- Request your tree and it’ll arrive in minutes. You’ll be charged a £10 service fee in-app for delivery
