Jedward ‘chased’ down the Thames by killer sharks in Sharknado 3 PR stunt

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! is the third movie in the cult series centering on flying death sharks. It aired on Syfy last week.
n impressively daft stunt to promote the film, specialist prop designers and marine experts created a bespoke fibreglass boat, featuring inflatable sharks and – more scarily than all of that – Irish twins Jedward.
You see, X Factor finalists Jedward, AKA John and Edward, have a cameo in the movie and also appear to have recorded a song for it called ‘Oh Hell No’, and as such, were recruited to basically shout from said boat as it flew up and down the River Thames.
Tower Bridge even opened to let the ‘#Jednado‘ through. Watch the stunt here:
According to the agency behind the campaign, the stunt was supported with media interviews and a live social media campaign, asking fans which #Jednado Challenge the boys should take part in at high speed.
To be fair, it’s easy to have a pop because, well, it’s Jedward and they make Ted Bundy look well-adjusted, but you can’t argue with it as a campaign. It’s in much the same vain as the films – over the top silliness as entertainment – and it did do well media-wise, with coverage in The Sun, Daily Star and on the Huffington Post, as well as mentions on BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show and Kiss FM. #Jednado was also apparently trending in the UK, Germany, Denmark and Ireland during the morning of the stunt.
