Shoppers silenced by impromptu opera in the aisles in Italian food stunt

Italian food producer and ‘pesto pioneers’ Sacla’ surprised shoppers at a Waitrose foodhall with this impromptu opera in the aisles:

Five secret opera singers disguised as shoppers and store workers delivered a rendition of (the Youtube video description tells us) Italian classic ‘Funiculì, Funiculà’.

According to this blog, recently-appointed PR agency Taylor Herring are working on a national student-focused initiative and also developing a campaign to celebrate the 150th anniversary of pesto this Summer. The agency hired Us London to direct the ‘Shopera’, produced by Nice and Polite.

Whilst the store’s management were in on the secretly-filmed campaign, the floor staff weren’t, helping to create a realistic stunt.
