Travelodge cash in on recovery of Richard III

By on Friday, February 8, 2013

We’ve been waiting for someone to cash in on the recovery of Richard III – and the ever on-the-ball Travelodge is among the first to step up to the plate.

The budget hotel chain is offering free rooms to anyone from the UK with the surname Plantagenet.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said the company wanted to “help the  investigation and see if there is any truth in the name Plantagenet dying with the death of King Richard III”.

A simple gig but one that’s received a fair bit of coverage, including the Metro – a useful example of the simplest ideas often being the best!
