Campaign helps visitors steer clear of taxi overcharges

A new public awareness campaign from agency Šanavala tackles a growing issue in Zagreb (Croatia) – unlicensed taxis and unclear fares.

It focuses on a common moment of doubt: when a taxi ride suddenly seems to take a wrong turn.

The creative shows this feeling through distorted journey lines simple routes that twist into expensive detours.

Earlier this year, a story from Zagreb made headlines across Croatia: a visitor from New Zealand was charged a ridiculous €1506 for a taxi ride.

It did not take long for the story to make the rounds on social media. The city decided to take action, turning the public frustration into a creative campaign.

These appear across city billboards and digital screens at airports, stations and key tourist spots.

Each invites people to scan a QR code to check fare estimates, review the expected route, and choose verified taxi services.

The campaign aims to inform helping travellers feel more confident when they step into a cab.
