Uncommon drags hair loss out of the taboo zone

Uncommon Creative Studio has released Losing It, a 10-minute short aimed at dragging male hair loss out of the taboo zone.
Timed with National Hair Loss Awareness Month, the film stars People Just Do Nothing favourites Allan Mustafa and Hugo Chegwin in a painfully funny barbershop exchange.
The film arrives alongside research revealing 61% of men who’ve experienced hair loss still find it a taboo subject.
The project also marks an interesting pivot for an ad agency more known for impactful, commercial brand campaigns.
Directed by Marvin Jay Alvarez (Kurupt FM) — the short is backed by a poster campaign using a bespoke typeface formed from manipulated strands of hair, set against a bold yellow backdrop with collage cut-outs of the stars.
Hugo Chegwin admits the role hit close to home: “As someone who has struggled with hair loss and has done a lot to try and sort my own hair out, I really relate to this character… especially in the world of social media.”
Charlie Gatsky-Sinclair at Uncommon Creative Studio, comments: “This was a real passion project for everyone involved, and we hope it helps to open up those tricky conversations around a topic that should really be completely normalised in today’s society.”
Losing It follows Uncommon’s growing passion for entertainment projects, including an upcoming feature The Thing with Feathers — a Sundance 2025 premiere about grief set for release next autumn.
The short is streaming now on YouTube.
