Uber turns sunbed wars into a smart plug for Reserve

Uber has brought the ritual of the holiday sunbed scramble to London in a playful campaign for its Reserve booking feature.

Created with Mother, the activation sees giant beach towels draped over parked cars across three central London locations, turning everyday streets into a nod to one of Britain’s most familiar holiday behaviours.

The idea draws on the early-morning rush to claim a poolside spot, reframing it as a reminder to sort out airport travel before the trip begins.

The work positions Uber Reserve as the practical answer, encouraging travellers to book their airport ride in advance.

The feature allows users to secure a journey up to 90 days ahead, tying neatly into the campaign’s central idea of getting organised before the holiday starts.

The stunt also builds on Uber’s wider work with UK airports, with supporting social content extending the idea across platforms.

Maya Gallego Spiers, head of marketing at Uber UK, said the cultural truth behind “sunbed wars” made it an effective way to dramatise the benefit of planning ahead.

Mother’s Anthony Montague and Oli Rimoldi added: “Brits love planning ahead – ask any sunbed at 7am.”
