Turkish barbers responds to Farage with shopfront satire

A Turkish barber in Glasgow has found a witty way to answer a divisive political claim.
With some photoshop and a sharp sense of humour.
After Nigel Farage suggested Turkish barbershops were fronts for money laundering and drug running, G11 Barbers in Partick teamed up with street artist Rebel Bear to respond.

Not with a statement but with Farage himself staring out from the shop window, sporting an afro, a mullet and a set of curtains.
The images were quickly plastered across the G11 frontage on Dumbarton Road, stopping locals in their tracks and leaving customers laughing.

Rebel Bear, who has been creating street art for the past eight years across Scotland said the aim was to meet division with humour.

The message, handwritten on the shop door, makes the point clearly while reminding passersby that G11 also does belting haircuts.
“After Nigel Farage’s ignorant and deliberately divisive comments about Turkish barbershops Street artist The Rebel Bear teamed up with G11 Barbers to highlight the stupidity, absurdity, and hypocrisy behind both the remarks and the man himself. Rather than meeting hate with more hate, we aimed to respond with unity and humour. They also do belting haircuts inside, so pop in next time you need one.”
A fast, cultural response that turns a negative headline into something positive for a local business.
