Monzo and BBH brought football fandom and financial savviness together with an attention grabbing 1p pop-up stunt for Coventry City supporters.

To mark the return of Monzo’s Saving Challenge, the bank partnered with creative agency BBH to open two one-day-only “1p Shops”  – giving fans the chance to pick up the new CCFC away shirt for just a penny.

Located in Broadgate Square and the CBS Arena Fanzone, the pop-ups aimed to inspire fans to start small saving habits, reinforcing the challenge’s core message: pennies add up.

The Monzo Saving Challenge encourages users to put away just 1p more each day, potentially building a savings pot of £667.95 over a year.

AJ Coyne, VP Marketing & Growth at Monzo, said the activation was “a brilliant way to show people that simple habits and small steps to save today can bring about bigger leaps in the future.”

Karen Martin, CEO at BBH, added: ““I can’t think of a better way to lift the mood in January than giving away football shirts to fans, and seeing so many Monzo customers queuing to claim their shirt and support their team. It was electric. ”
