Designer invents a beer bottle made for the beach

Japanese designer Kenji Abe has created a glass beer bottle that can be planted directly into the sand, offering a simple fix to a familiar beach-day problem: nowhere flat to put your drink.

The design was born from Abe’s own experience wanting to enjoy a beer by the sea without the hassle of bringing a table or hunting for level ground.
His solution turns the base of the bottle into a tapered form that can be easily anchored in the sand, keeping the drink upright and close at hand.
The concept was exhibited at the 2nd International Conference on Design for Ocean Environments at the Axis gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo.
