These park lampposts double as dog health monitors

In an innovative swing at preventative pet care, Tails.com has transformed lampposts in London’s Victoria Park into makeshift health monitors for dogs.

The brand, known for dog nutrition, rigged the posts with pH tests that flag dodgy acid or alkaline levels in dog urine — an early warning for possible health issues.

The pop-up activation saw the brand’s Head Vet on-site, helping dog parents decode the colourful pee strips and offering advice on what to do if the results looked off.

The idea?

Make pet health checks part of your morning walk and spot problems before they need a vet visit.

The campaign by Mischief PR also lands at a moment when the economic impact of caring for sick pets is hitting the spotlight.

New research fronted by economist Dr Sofia Izquierdo Sanchez shows Brits pulling sickies to care for their pets is costing the UK a staggering £13.8 billion in lost wages annually.

Tails.com backs that up with their own stat drop: 72% of pet owners admit to faking sick days, with the average dog parent burning eight days a year on pup-related TLC.

Dr. Sean McCormack, Head Vet at Tails.com, explains: “A dog’s urine can tell us a lot about what’s going on inside their body. By making these tests quick and easy for owners, we’re helping to catch potential issues early – before they become more serious or harder to treat.
