Satirical PETA ad promotes ‘My First Animal Lab’ toy
By James Herring on Tuesday, March 18, 2025
PETA’s latest campaign isn’t pulling any punches.
In a bold, gruesome, and undeniably unsettling ad, the animal rights group challenges the U.S National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its justification for animal testing.
The spot, styled like a ‘90s toy commercial, features a disturbingly cheerful child playing with a fictional “My First Lab Animal” kit mimicking real, taxpayer-funded experiments on animals.
As a saccharine jingle chirps, “It’s the toy that toys with life!” the dark reality of animal testing clashes with the ad’s colorful, carefree aesthetic.
PETA’s hard-hitting satire aims to spark outrage and force a conversation about the NIH’s practices.
The ad debuts today on FOX News, TV Land, MTV and Adult Swim.
Love it or hate it, this ad is impossible to ignore.
