TalkTalk launch Neil Warnock’s Guide for Armchair Managers

By on Monday, August 15, 2016

TalkTalk was looking for an idea to launch its new Sky Sports Season Pass with a focus on real fans watching at home. Inspired by the men, women and children who spend 90 minutes in front of their TV talking tactics, arguing with refereeing decisions and living the highs and lows of everything the beautiful game has to offer we created the first ever guide for armchair managers.

Fronted by honouree armchair manager Neil Warnock, who has managed over 1,000 games but currently finds himself watching from home rather than the dugout, the 2 minute video provides his personal insights on coping with pressure – without getting a red card from the rest of the family.

Known for his volcanic touchline temperament Warnock provides advice on everything from pre-match preparation, controlling passions during a game and how to deal with the pain of defeat, including a personal recommendation on talking to the deer in Richmond Park.

The guide was made in response to research which revealed how more than half of football fans adopt the personas of the likes of Klopp, Mourinho and Wenger whilst watching at home. Filmed at Neil’s home and released just before the start of the Premier League season it has appeared in Metro, Mail Online, Daily Star, AOL, The Drum and been viewed more than 65,000 times on social media.

The campaign was created by MHP Communications to launch TalkTalk’s Sky Sports Season Pass which provides all six Sky Sports channels for a discounted £11 a month without a fixed contract.
