Rentokil launch pop-up ‘pestaurant’ serving pigeon burgers and edible insects

There’s been a bit of buzz recently about the use of insects in food. For those of you who saw the BBC documentary Claridge’s last year, you will have seen how uber-cool restaurant Noma was serving up ants on lettuce to the city’s rich and famous.

Well, now we go from Noma to.. um, well, Rentokil. The pest control company has just announced that for one day only it will be holding an exclusive pop-up ‘Pestaurant’ which will include delicacies from sweet chilli pigeon burgers, to Wasabi Weaver ants, BBQ grasshoppers and for those with a sweeter tooth, chocolate flavoured dipped bugs.

While dining, guests can pick up some great tips on the best way to deal with pests in their homes and workplaces from Rentokil representatives who will be in attendance.

For those of you brave enough to try it, or suffering some a pest problem, head to One New Change (nearest tubes: St Paul’s and Mansion House) from 10:30am next Thursday 15 August. And keep your eyes peeled for the resulting coverage. I think this is a genius stunt.
