Edible Soap campaign shines a light on the UK’s hygiene poverty crisis

The Hygiene Bank has released an Edible Soap as a bold statement crafted to highlight the dire choice many have to make daily between eating and staying clean.
The initiative shines a light on the staggering reality that nearly 8% of the population struggles with basic hygiene. Imagine having to decide between a meal or soap…this is the harsh truth for 5.3 million adults.
Partnering with ethical brand The Good Wash, The Edible Soap is concocted from real food ingredients like cacao butter and avocado oil. As if the message wasn’t strong enough, renowned chefs like Chantelle Nicholson are jumping on board, creating unique dishes with this soap.
“With public support, we can work toward a future where everyone has access to the hygiene essentials needed for health, hope, and opportunity. This campaign has given us a valuable platform to tell people about an issue they weren’t aware of, and amplify our call for immediate policy action by urging the government to remove VAT from soap, making it more accessible to all.”
For £15, you can purchase a virtual bar on The Good Wash’s website, supporting the cause and pushing for government action to remove the 20% VAT on soap!
