Casper launches ‘The Dreamery’ sleep pod pop-up in New York

With startups such as Simba, Eve and Casper (somehow exciting us about mattresses) we really are an ‘online mattress generation’ of shoppers.

This week, Casper, the US mattress business, opened an on-demand area to relax in, for sleep deprived New Yorkers.  All part of their mission to get “everyone to sleep better and live better”, you can now pay $25 (£19) for 45 minutes, to nap.

Built next door the Casper’s showroom (walking distance is you do decide to buy one), the ‘Dreamery’ space is filled with nine circular sleep pods, each containing a mattress, fresh pillows, sheets, pyjamas, an eye-mask, face cream, and a toothbrush.

Neil Parikh, Co-founder and COO at Casper commented:

“The Dreamery is about making sleep and rest a part of our regular wellness routines — similar to how many people prioritise a workout class. The concept enables us to pilot new ways of bringing better sleep to more people and to more places — whether that’s here, the workplace, airports or beyond.”

Only in New York at the moment,  the UK would surely embrace these pods too, as IKEA proved with their Breakfast in Bed Cafe a few years ago.
