Nivea Sun turns a parent’s shadow into a simple warning

By on Monday, April 13, 2026

Nivea Sun has launched a print campaign with Jung von Matt that turns a familiar beach scene into a powerful reminder about sun protection for children.

Photographed by Ale Burset, the work shows babies playing on the sand while the shadows cast over them take on a more adult scale.

In each image, that shadow becomes a visual stand-in for parental care, framing sunscreen not as an optional extra but as a basic part of looking after a child in the sun.

The line “Protection is human” sits lightly within the scenes, alongside the Nivea Sun branding, and does much of its work through understatement.

Rather than relying on fear or instruction, the campaign uses a recognisable parental instinct and gives it a striking visual form.
