Secret Life Of Dads taps into modern fatherhood with Pints & Ponytails
A live event from Secret Life Of Dads has struck a chord online by turning a practical parenting skill into a relaxed night out for fathers.
Held above the Lucky Saint Pub in London, ‘Pints & Ponytails’ invited dads to learn how to braid their daughters’ hair while sharing a drink and swapping stories.
Guided by trainers from Braid Maidens, the class took participants from basic ponytails to more ambitious styles. One attendee joked they went “from barely being able to do a ponytail to the Elsa by the end of the class.”

The event quickly gathered momentum.
As the organisers posted afterwards: “Less than 3 weeks ago we sat in this very space at the Lucky Saint pub with 10 other dads and last night 35 dads walked through the door!! Most of them came alone but were all there for the same reason…to learn how to do their daughters hair.”

They added: “What followed was one of the most special evenings we’ve ever been part of.”
The set-up was intentionally informal, with mannequins on tables and pints circulating as the group practised plaits together.
That atmosphere helped remove the awkwardness many fathers admit they feel around everyday childcare skills.
Clips from the evening spread quickly online, with dads in other cities already asking how to host their own version.
