McSki: The World’s Only Ski-Thru McDonald’s
By Staff on Tuesday, December 16, 2025
McDonald’s doesn’t need to invent new products to stay famous. Sometimes, it just changes the setting.
At the Lindvallen ski resort in Sälen, Sweden, sits McSki, the world’s only ski-thru McDonald’s.
No cars. No drive-thru lanes. Just skiers gliding up to a hatch, ordering a Big Mac, and skiing straight back onto the slopes.

The restaurant first opened in 1996 and only operates during ski season. When the snow melts, it shuts.

The menu is familiar. Big Macs, hot chocolate, McFlurrys. The experience is not.

Inside feels more alpine lodge than fast food outlet, with wooden interiors, long benches, and views of the surrounding slopes. Outside, ski racks replace parking spaces.

Service can be slow. Queues get chaotic. Fingers freeze. TikTok videos rack up thousands of views anyway.
McSki is a reminder that novelty can do the heavy lifting. Same brand. Same food. A radically different experience.
