Lidl By Lidl: Supermarket drops Oasis-inspired summer jacket

Ahead of Oasis reunion tour Lidl have dropped a Summer jacket – under the punny label ‘Lidl by Lidl’.
The jacket promoted on a mural above the Maine Rd chippy in Manchester comes complete with cooling pockets and a bottle opener zip.
The 30ft wonderwall is outside Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.
As hype for the tour gets louder, Lidl (and agency The Romans) have jumped on the nostalgia train with a £30 summer jacket that’s half Britpop merch, half high-spec concert utility vest.
It’s available online only – from July 9.
The limited-edition jacket was inspired Liam’s Berghaus campaign last year – when fans called him out for wearing a jacket strikingly similar to Lidl’s brand colours.
Elsewhere, a blue plaque was installed at a Lidl supermarket in Manchester, commemorating the gig that Liam Gallagher “almost” played there.
At the the time, Liam joked that if his show at the city’s Co-Op Live Arena wasn’t “sorted” in time, then he would have to play at Lidl instead.
The move comes in the week Aldi rebrands Prestwich store to ‘Aldeh’ – the campaign by Taylor Herring was a tribute the city’s iconic drawl – just in time for the band’s hotly anticipated homecoming gigs at Heaton Park.
Other brands have been chasing the buzz.
Leeds-based Umpf created a footfall-driving artwork for its client, St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff.
Nathan Wyburn was commissioned to create a monochrome portrait of Noel and Liam – made entirely from bucket hats.
Home improvement website Checkatrade wondered what the Gallagher brothers’ lives would have been had they followed in their father’s footsteps and become tradespeople.
The campaign by agency Good Relations signed up looks alikes for a DIY photoshoot.
