Subway welcomes IKEA to Oxford Street with cheeky meatball giveaway

Things got meaty on Oxford Street, as Subway waged a deliciously cheeky “Battle of the Balls” against new neighbour IKEA.
With the Swedish flat-pack giant opening its flagship London store, Subway seized the moment to remind meatball lovers that there’s more than one way to build satisfaction.
In a saucy PR stunt, the sandwich savants handed out free 6” Meatball Marinara subs to curious IKEA-goers, daring them to decide: who really has the bigger balls?
But Subway didn’t stop there. Embracing IKEA’s famously fiddly instruction style, they dished out their own flat-pack-inspired guides, illustrating exactly how to assemble the perfect Marinara masterpiece (no allen key required).

When commenting on the pop-up, Kirstey Elston, EMEA Brand and UK&I Marketing Director at Subway, said: “Since we’re both experts in the meatball game, we couldn’t resist getting involved in the excitement surrounding IKEA landing in the heart of London. What better way to welcome our new neighbours to Oxford Street, while also reminding hungry shoppers who the true meatball masters are!”
So wherever you’re getting your meatball fix this year, one thing’s clear: when it comes to meatballs, Subway’s not (flat) packing down.
