To honour one of its most beloved and widely used items, IKEA has unveiled a haute couture concept store celebrating the iconic blue bag.
Instantly recognisable and seemingly indestructible, the IKEA blue bag has become a staple for 45% of UK households.
With unmatched versatility and legendary capacity, nearly a third of owners have kept their bag for over five years, underlining its status as more than just a shopping accessory but a lasting part of daily life and a true cultural icon.
To celebrate the FRAKTA bag (yes, it has an official name) , the brand has launched the Hus of FRAKTA pop-up on London’s Oxford Street today. This playful, upscale take on the iconic blue bag elevates its humble origins, proving that affordability doesn’t have to mean sacrificing quality or style.
Positioned next to its upcoming Oxford Street store (set to open in spring 2025), the pop-up is open daily until March 2025. Visitors can personalise their FRAKTA bags with bespoke initials or snag a new one for just 75p.
Additionally, a ‘Curated Collection’ of popular IKEA products including vases, lamps and stools will be available to purchase, giving a sneak peek of what’s to come at the new store.
The pop-up also features a special “Blue Edit” area, showcasing products in the signature blue, all displayed in a gallery-style setting inspired by high-end concept stores.
Visitors will finally enjoy an immersive exit experience, featuring ASMR soundscapes, mirrored walls, 3D lighting, and free blue candy floss.
