IAMS tackle pet obesity with giant Thanksgiving parade balloon

By on Tuesday, November 26, 2024

Here’s a stat to ruin your day: 59% of American dogs are overweight or obese.

So petfood brand IAMS teamed up with adam&eveDDB London to create an absolutely massive Thanksgiving parade balloon modeled after Waylon, a real-life chunky pup who’s been battling his own weight woes.

This wasn’t your average parade spectacle. Waylon’s balloon was so big it got stuck between two buildings in Chicago’s Loop, forcing onlookers to stop, stare, and grapple with the reality of canine obesity.

A pop-up intervention for dog lovers.

The real Waylon, meanwhile, is on the road to recovery – he’s already shed almost 3 pounds, thanks to a revamped diet and, presumably, a lot of walkies.

IAMS eye-catching campaign lands a serious message point about pet health while reminding everyone that dogs deserve more than couch naps and leftover pizza crusts.
