Ed Sheeran announces limited edition ‘tattooed’ ketchup bottles

The bizarre collab between Ed Sheeran and Heinz took a strange but worthy turn today as it was announced that the musician and ketchup-lover is releasing a charity bottle of the sauce featuring his Heinz tattoo.

The collaboration is part of Heinz’ 150th anniversary celebrations.

In June he launched the endorsement on his Instagram, writing: “It’s actually real and you’ll be able to get your hands on one very soon #Edchup.”

Sheeran is a well-know fan of the red sauce and even has a tattoo of the company’s logo on his arm.

And now the tattoo artwork will feature in a bottle wrap.

Sheeran previously launched his own ‘Edchup’ limited edition with the company with a TV a spot which celebrates his favourite sauce.

Just 150 bottles are available  – each one hand signed by the man himself.

The first three are to be auctioned off at Christie’s in London – the rest to be won through a global free prize draw.

All money raised will be donated to Ed Sheeran’s nominated charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Verdict: ‘Genuinely credible celebrity endorsement deal’ is phrase you’ll rarely hear  – but this campaign breaks the mould and it’s a rare achievement. A celebrity megastar taking dollar from a megabrand and doing it in a fashion where nobody really ends up hating him or the product. Respect to all involved.
