McDonald’s sparks poster spat with Burger King in Belgium

By on Saturday, July 27, 2019

McDonald’s are trolling a new Burger King restaurant with a huge poster to lure new customers.

Ahead of the opening of the new Burger King Outlet outlet McDonald’s installed a giant, trolling billboard in the center of Brussels, Belgium.

McDonald’s claims that, unlike its rival, it brings your food straight to a diner’s table.

So the poster reads “Served by a king, or served as a king? Discover our table service at McDonald’s.”

The McDonald’s logo has even been turned into a golden crown. A nod to Burger King restaurants.

Quick as flash Burger responded with it’s own poster – “Why try to roast if you can’t even flame grill?”

The story caught the attention of the Belgium media – and both brands are benefitting from coverage of the spat.

The rivalry between the two brands is famous – though typically Burger king takes the first swipe.

Back in December Burger King sent Whopper fans to McDonald’s 14,000 restaurants in order to unlock a promotion for a 1 cent Whopper.

In May they launched new ad campaign promoting clown-free children’s birthday parties.
