Cartoon characters go bald in child cancer support campaign

By on Wednesday, April 23, 2014

In recognition of Cancer Awareness Month throughout April in Brazil, children’s cancer hospital GRAACC has created a campaign to support children with cancer… and it’ll hit you right in the feels.

Famous cartoon characters from all over the world – including Hello Kitty, Garfield and Snoopy – have gone bald, sending out the message that a child with cancer deserves to be treated just like any other child.

This video explains the campaign and highlights the stigma children often feel:

A selection of the images are below, available for download from the campaign’s site, baldcartoons.com. Cartoonists are also being asked to add their own bald creations to help spread the message here.
