Ed Sheeran Becomes a Pussycat Doll

By on Thursday, June 14, 2018

Cats of London have been waxing lyrical this week as they welcomed a figure of Ed Sheeran into London’s first cat cafe.

The wax figure, dressed in a blue and black flannel shirt, t-shirt and jeans and strumming his guitar, has taken up temporary residence at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in east London to honour the singer’s love of cats.

The feline residents couldn’t be Happier to see the Shape of You hitmaker, with one ginger four-legged lookalike even climbing up for a Photograph.

The stunt by Madame Tussauds, a week before Sheeran graces the London attraction, is the latest in a trend that’s seeing Tussauds utilising their figures more creatively outside the attraction. They grabbed headlines in January when Donald Trump posed outside the maligned US embassy, before fellow tempestuous oath The Hulk was seen attacking a tram in Blackpool for their Marvel launch in March.

Edward Fuller, general manager at Madame Tussauds in London, said in a statement about the stunt: “Knowing what a pet lover he is, launching the figure at London’s renowned cat cafe felt like something the man himself would surely approve of.”

The stunt has so far generated coverage including Metro, Evening Standard, ITV News and NME.
